As I have mentioned in the homepage, I am very much interested in K-Pop and J-pop. For me, songs really help me to get through my stressful times in life but sometimes, they alleviate the mood with their beats and lyrics; which are aspects that I really judge in songs. Before, I am a huge fan of English songs, but lately a lot of them contains explicit language, I decided to stop hence be interested in the K-Pop and J-Pop genre. So here it is, my top 5 favourite tunes which can be related to some situations in life.

SONGS FOR WHEN I'M FEELING DOWN

  1. Hug - Seventeen

Now this song is my #1 favourite for when I need assurance and comfort. Lee Jihoon, the composer and also a member of the vocal unit of Seventeen really poured his heart out in this song that he wrote, making sure to provide comfort that people seek for. Despite the language barrier since the song is in Korean, but the translations to this song is very touching and he himself even uses simple words to touch the heart of people who longs for assurance. I really recommend this one to those who is having a hard time with whatever you are dealing with.

2. To My Youth - Bol4

As for this one, this song feels like the singer is talking to the listener that the problems we are facing are just temporary and we should never give up to make the people around us be proud of us. This song really depicts the struggle that we face as children and as students.

3. What's Good - Seventeen

"What's Good" by Seventeen is a song that tells people to don't get too worked up over the struggles we are facing. This song literally tells us to chill and take time and relax (yup, even when we are late to work!). Plus the beats never failed to make me smile alone because it's a very upbeat song indeed!

4. It's Fine - N.Flying

Aahh.. N.Flying, a band that usually makes songs about living carefree with the sound of the bass guitar and drum. But this time, N.Flying came out with a song that speaks about suicide prevention among youth, thus made this collaboration with the Life Insurance Philanthropy Foundation in Korea. This song works very well in calming myself when I am feeling stressed, anxious and felt like nobody is there to help me.

5. 00:00 O'clock - BTS

I am not a fan of BTS but the beats to this song and the lyrics are just perfection. "And you're gonna be happy", this line really makes me feel confident and let me take some time for whatever I am dealing with, so that I can come back stronger and happier the next time.

SONGS THAT PROVIDE MOTIVATION

  1. Fanfare - Sumika

A J-pop song with a very uplifting beat, but if you search for the translations, the song really encourages us to fight endlessly to reach our goals. I discovered this song from the movie "I Want To Eat Your Pancreas" and since then I have been loving this one for the translations that encourages people to be carefree at the same time.

2. Gurenge - LiSA

Many of you might know this song from the anime "Demon Slayer" but do you guys really know what this song is about? LiSA sang this song amazingly with her emotions to instill the fight spirit in listeners when hearing this masterpiece. This song literally delivers the message to fight for what we want.

3. Double Knot - Stray Kids

"Double Knot" from the title already tells us that by tying your shoes with double knots, you can go further with the confidence and power that you get! Stray Kids' leader Bang Chan told people that the songs is about being confident and be brave in whatever you are doing. Bonus for those who are not that interested in Korean language, this song is available in English version as well ;D

4. Fearless - Seventeen

Another one from my favourite boy group, Seventeen. Well, the title made it obvious that we must be fearless. Hence, this song has no other meaning than to encourage us to face everything bravely and definitely burns the fighter spirit in us.

5. I Lived - OneRepublic

Finally, an English song! (LOL) I have loved this one since my primary school days and honestly, Ryan Tedder really did well in conveying about the life challenges in this song. He wrote this to his son, showing him that firstly, we must approach life fearlessly, then of course facing the challenges which then will lead to success.

SONGS WHEN YOU ARE IN LOVE

This does not mean that when you have to be in a relationship or I am encouraging you to be in one! (Don't get me wrong >.<) But since we are in the age of exploring, I'm sure you can relate to these songs at some point in your life (especially when you are crushing on someone hehe that's normal)

  1. Popo (How Deep Is Our Love) - Yerin Baek

Another English song, but this time from a Korean singer. This one really gives out a vibe of having coffee at the cafe with your loved one and you can just relax listening to it. Overall the lyrics to this song is very cute!

2. Very Nice - Seventeen

A very classy song for those who are about to go on a first date indeed! This song really projects the first-date vibe and the effort to impress someone and to win someone's heart.

3. Heroine - Back Number

Imagine listening this while watching snow falls or even having a stroll in the park, thinking of that one special person. This Japanese song really shows the soft side that one can portray to their special one, and its just the real definition of a cute confession!

4. L.O.U - The Boyz

Another cute confession song, showing efforts to win a person's heart. It becomes even cuter when this is sang by a group of boys hehe ><

5. A Midsummer Night's Sweetness - San E ft. Raina

Raina's sweet voice with the rhythm never fails to project a sweet relationship kind of vibe. This song tells listener about a story of friends to lovers but of course in a cute way, after catching up with each other.

Overall, I know I have listed a number of Korean songs but it would be wonderful if you guys can give them a try since I really love the way they convince the message despite being in different language. Most importantly since a lot of us are Muslims, no matter what you are going through, it is best to opt for the right solution that has been taught to us, not solely relying to songs or other things to solve our problems. Till next time!
